Learning design for civic engagement

After the 2016 Presidential election, I was inspired to explore how people might learn about and begin to take action in their communities. Since civics is not a prominent focus in public education, I wanted to consider how one might introduce a person of voting age to local politics using principles of e-learning.

It was a challenge to assemble a framework that allowed learners to contribute their own goals and experience in a practical way that would make learning personal. I used Cognitive Task Analysis to better understand how civically-minded people make decisions regarding engagement and action.
