Education community management takes dedicated planning, expectation management, and quality execution. In addition to extensive internal documentation of project plans, I published the following articles and support documentation for thousands of university professors using a JavaScript-based data visualization platform to teach a variety of subjects.
Student Data Jam – This 10 day self-paced event was designed to get students moving, reducing the amount of class – and teacher – time for onboarding them to the platform. Resource management was a priority and I had to ensure that education projects wouldn’t interfere with other engineering efforts.
I kept things light for our team by encouraging competitors to use standard support channels, rather than having dedicated coaches for each team. I created a minisite with guidelines and a rubric to make it easier for students to understand the contest criteria and used it to create a form for judges to share their feedback with teams.
We published interviews with the winning teams to promote their projects and to use to promote future competitions.
