In 2014, I embarked on one of my favorite projects to date – EdTechPGH. Inspired by the community we nurtured online, this group was founded by our team at Working Examples (WEx) to connect educators and technology developers in the Pittsburgh region.
The group flourished with full-time support from the WEx team, but struggled to thrive without the support of the team once WEx was sunsetted. In the summer of 2016 I took the opportunity to re-examine EdTechPGH as a group that fosters diversity and access in ed tech. Viewing the group this way enabled me to design a metrics-driven non-profit program that serves the underserved while maintaining its goal of connecting edtech stakeholders.
EdTechPGH was included in When Ed Meets Tech Both Fields Win.
